1. HEPA Air Filter (Composite Design)
This filter is a multi-stage cylindrical cartridge, typically used for high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration in pressurized systems.
Structure: It features a pleated glass fiber or synthetic media core, which maximizes surface area for air-to-media contact.
Pre-filtration: The outer layer is wrapped in a black open-cell foam. This serves as a "pre-filter" to capture larger dust particles, hair, and debris, preventing the inner HEPA pleats from clogging prematurely.
Airflow Orientation: The sticker labeled "out win" indicates the air discharge side. This is critical for maintaining the structural integrity of the pleats under pressure.
Efficiency Grade: Standard HEPA filters in this form factor usually range from H13 to H14, capable of removing 99.97% to 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
2. PE Sintered Air Filter (Porous Plastic)
This white, rigid cylinder is a sintered filter made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) or Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE).
Manufacturing Process: It is created by fusing plastic pellets together through heat and pressure without melting them completely. This creates a tortuous, interconnected pore structure.
Key Characteristics:
Self-Supporting: Unlike the HEPA filter, this requires no internal cage or external support; it is structurally rigid.
Washable: These filters are generally hydrophobic and can be cleaned (backwashed or ultrasonically cleaned) and reused multiple times.
Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to most acids, alkalis, and moisture, making it ideal for humid environments or air intakes.
Pore Size: Typically available in ratings from 5 microns to 100 microns. In medical or air compressor applications, a 20-50 micron range is common for protecting internal machinery from fine dust.
